Before changing phones: prepare your calling-app settings

Moving to a new phone is a good time to review your calling setup. Do not assume that every permission, subscription or blocking preference will transfer automatically. A short checklist can help you avoid missing important calls during the change.
Record only what you need
Write down the features you use and the account sign-in method. Store recovery information securely and keep verification codes private. If you take screenshots of settings, crop out contact names, phone numbers and account details before sharing them with anyone.
Check the account and purchase channel
Before buying a plan again, check which account and store handled an existing purchase. Keep the receipt privately. A subscription can be associated with a particular account or platform, so confirm the current product terms before assuming that every feature transfers between Android and iPhone.
Install from the official store
Use the official app listing and confirm the developer name. Follow the setup prompts on the new phone, reading each permission request. Avoid copying an old APK from an unknown download page just to make the new phone resemble the old one.
Test the basics before adjusting extras
With a consenting contact, check incoming and outgoing calls, your microphone and notifications. Then review caller identification, blocked numbers and any optional feature you rely on. Test while the phone is locked as well as while it is in use. Manufacturer battery and background controls may differ from your old device.
If something is missing
Make a note of the phone model, operating-system version, app version and the exact feature affected. Check the official help area for that device and use the purchase channel’s support tools for billing questions. Do not send passwords, full contact lists or verification codes as part of a support request.
Keep the old device until checks are complete
Once ordinary calls and important account access work on the new device, follow the manufacturer’s transfer and reset guidance for the old phone. Account removal, uninstalling an app and cancelling a subscription are separate tasks; review each relevant confirmation rather than assuming one action does all three.
